Kandu is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for people with barriers to employment. Since 1953, Kandu has taught employment and life skills that transform someone labeled “unemployable” into someone who does excellent work and earns a wage. Kandu provides excellent services to seventy or more companies in any given year, while providing job-related services and employment to over 1,200 people each year.
Kandu was formed in Grand Haven in 1953 by a group of parents who had children with disabilities. These parents were concerned about what their children were going to do once they graduated from school. Kandu expanded its services into Holland in 1972 and has continued to provide innovative services to its client base. Throughout the years, Kandu has worked with an increasing number of agencies and businesses in West Michigan to provide job-related services for people seeking work.
